Game Guide: Infinity Runner

OVERVIEW

Infinity Runner is a free-to-play mobile game available for download on the Google Play Store. Mechanically, the game is simple: tap once to change the direction of the ball, keep it on the platform and smash into tinfoil 'spinny' cubes along the way. You gain points every second the ball remains in play and your run ends when you send your ball plunging into the abyss.

If you absolutely adore infinite running games, you will love Infinity Runner. And, if you've already started up the game but are not quite sure what's going on at, here's a quick guide to walk you through some of the game's lesser known mechanics!

SCORING

There are two ways to score points in Infinity Runner.

1) Time Reward
For every second you keep the ball in play (i.e. active), you will gain 1 point. There is no cap on the number of points you can earn here so if you can keep the game going for 3 mins, you will earn 180 points.

2) Jewels
Jewels, or as we like to call them, "spinny tinfoil cubes', will net you 5 points for each pickup. The points are credited into your total accumulated automatically upon barreling into them (which results in a mildly enthusiastic explosion of star-fluff). Like the Time Reward, there is no limit to how much you can gain from this: smash into 5 jewels, earn 5 points for each; earning you 25 points in total, additive to the score earned from your run (Time Reward).

SPEED BURSTS

Speed bursts are points in the game where the speed of the ball shifts up a gear. The increase is mild, but it can be jarring, especially with the text blast across the face of your screen. You will do well to anticipate these "jumps", for when you do, the difficulty bump will become an exhilarating barrier to breakthrough.

Speed bursts active when you, the player, has attained scores of : 20, 40, 80, 160, 320, and 640, at which point (640 points or greater) the game becomes a race of pure adrenaline and survival.

These are just some of the animated text blasts that you can expect.

Infinity Runner launched in October 2018 and is currently Free to Play. Download it from the Google Play Store here!
